After the rain

Yesterday we had a thunderstorm around dinner time. It was sunny pretty much the entire day and then it got dark and the skies have opened up.

After about 20 or 30 minutes the rain stopped and the sun came out. The sunset was unbelievable. Here are a few photos of what we could see from our windows.

So after a few months of stress and frustration and uncertainty of where Emma will go to Kindergarten in the Fall we can finally relax and really start enjoying our Summer. On Monday we learned that Emma will be going to a school we are zoned for (and not some other school where she would have to get on a school bus). This school is very close to where we live and it will be very convenient for me to drop both girls off in the morning. Yesterday Emma and I went and registered her for school. So that is it, she is officially in the school system now. :-)

Future Olimpic stars in the making? :-)

As promised, here are a few videos from Emma’s preschool graduation.

On Friday Emma graduated form preschool. They held a special ceremony for the kids where the kids sang songs that they’ve learned throughout the year and then they received their “diplomas.” Afterward there was a party for the kids and the parents. Everyone had to bring a dish and/or a drink so there was a lot of food. The kids didn’t seem to care all that much about the food until it was cake time. :-) We took videos of the graduation ceremony but I haven’t uploaded them on the computer yet but we do have photos. Enjoy the photos now and I should have the videos up by the end of this week.

For a few months now both Emma and Eva have been asking us to sign them up for ice skating lessons. I’ve been putting it off before because Eva was too young and couldn’t take lessons. Now that she is old enough we decided that the time has come and today I took the girls for their first ice skating lesson.

Last August Emma went to ice skating camp for two weeks and she really enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure how Emma will be on the skates after a break of almost a year but she got right on the ice and seemed to remember everything she learned at camp. There was only three kids in the class and two instructors. One of the instructors was with Emma and the other girl, and the second instructor was with Eva.

The kids had a great time. The instructor was impressed that Emma was very fast on the ice and not afraid to fall, which both girls did a lot especially Eva. Of course she was very determined and by the end of the class was able to skate a little and stop on her own. Now both girls can’t wait for next Wednesday for their next lesson.

Here are a few photos from today.

This past Thursday was Emma’s last Musical Theater class. Parents and siblings were invited to see the show the kids had put on. Everyone was encouraged to dress up into costumes. Emma picked her Halloween costume which was Batgirl and Eva was dressed as Dora the Explorer. Here are a couple of videos from that day.
